That he wrote this book when he was so terrifyingly young makes me physically sick and consumed with envy. For once, a comparison with John Updike or John Cheever is not delusional, wishful thinking or marketing hype. David Amsden is an invigorating, original, and sickeningly talented writer. And no, I've never met this guy, so I'm not his friend or former teacher.
